Here’s a quick trick that allows you to smooth skin and give it a healthy glow using Gaussian Blur and Saturation blend in GIMP. Don’t know what GIMP is? GIMP is a free open source photo editing software that is easy to use and extremely powerful.

Open up your digital photo in GIMP. From the Layers panel on the right hand side, click the “duplicate layer” button indicated by the yellow arrow.
Next, from the menu, select “Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur”…
From the Gaussian Blur window, increase the Horizontal and Vertical blur values to 15 or 20 as shown here and click “OK”:
Again, from the layers panel on the right, click on the Mode (Blend Mode) drop down menu and select “Saturation”…
There you have it. Smooth glowing skin with no loss of detail or tone…
